THE PATTERN KEEPERS: LOOP OF THE LOOM

EPISODE 2: LOOP OF THE LOOM

Yukako shares the benefits of her craft: weaving. She frames the art form as a space for community, self expression and healing. Her community relied on the meditative and mindful nature of the craft in response to the trauma caused by 9/11.

Similar to other crafts, weaving is collaborative and circular in a way that a machine could never be. Because of this, Yukako is hopeful for the future of weaving.

Weaving holds a special place in my heart as it reminds me of the days I spent learning to weave in Laos. You can find the fabric I wove myself in some of my BILY designs.

Why not try out weaving as a means of self care and mindfulness?

Once again the incredible videography and editing is by Elizabeth Sweeney.

Episode 3 coming soon…
